With each passing day, the dates of the richest poker tournament in the world, the most prestigious and one of the oldesto, World Series of Poker (WSOP) is nearing and is slated to take place on 26 May 2020. With the broadcast schedule been released and a number new tournaments being added, the pandemic Coronavirus appeared out of the blue forcing public to isolate themselves across the globe.

The owner of 6 WSOP bracelets, Daniel Negreanu said that his quarantine life has been going quite well for, " Amanda and I since we are both home bodies." In an interview with PokerNews, when Negreanu was asked how he was feeling and whether he was taking precaution in the current situation, he answered, "Not much changes for us other than not being able to go to hockey games. We were quarantined pretty early on."

He joined GGPoker about four months ago and he also added that the entire COVID-19 situation hinders his plans to fly to Toronto and "play some GGPoker online."

Spring is that time of the year when poker players look forward to WSOP. The last official update from the WSOP was that the officials were monitoring the situation with no alterations in dates as of now. Although the global risk assessment is set quite high. The speculation of poker players has led to many of them willing to bet on how this might impact on the 2020 series.

"Personally, I don't see a WSOP happening this summer," said Negreanu. "Maybe it happens in the fall, but I would be really surprised if all this blows over by then. There really isn't much you can do to safeguard a poker tournament from the spread of germs." He also added that once this blows over, he expects a boom on the live circuit. "People will be excited to get back to it! In the meantime, the boom we are seeing is online. With more people staying home, you may expect to see some live events choose to go the online route."
